Chris Lugo on Social Security

Green challenger

Support Social Security Notch reform

Q: Notch babies are those individuals who receive lower Social Security benefits because they were born in the years 1917 and immediately thereafter. Do you support Notch Reform?

A: I believe that Seniors deserve a fair deal. That is why I would support Social Security Notch reform to correct disparities in benefits. Candidate did not respond to requests for information

Adjust COLA by CPI for Elderly Consumers

Q: We strongly believe that the Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) that seniors are currently receiving does not accurately reflect how they must spend their money. Do you support COLA Fairness, based on the consumer price index (CPI) for seniors?

A: Seniors depend on their representatives to make good decisions, and I think it is clear that Cost of Living Adjustments should be based on the Consumer Price Index for Elderly Consumers. I would support this correction.

Long term solvency sound; stop shifting Trust Fund money out

Q: Do you support Social Security Reform or Privatization?

A: Although I am concerned about Social Security, I do believe its long term solvency is sound. As a candidate I would stop lending out money reserved for social security into other programs, work to balance the federal budget and increase taxes.

Full funding of all entitlement programs without privatizing

Q: Should we privatize Social Security?

A: Strongly Oppose. I support the full and continued funding of social security and all entitlement programs designed to protect the economic health and well being of our country's most vulnerable citizens, especially the elderly and differently abled.
