Tom McClintock on Principles & Values2004 former Republican Challenger CA Governor |
This is the opportunity of our generation, this historic turning point, to roll back the taxes, the regulations destroying our economy, and to reign in our out-of-control bureaucracies, restore our crumbling public works.
We have to have a governor that knows every inch of the state bureaucracy and who is ready and willing to challenge and confront the spending lobby controlling our government.
I believe that the hour has come. This is our generation’s opportunity. To restore to our children the golden state that our parents gave to us.
I would like to lead the state in the new direction back to that golden state that my parents found here, when they came in 1965. I’ve got kids about the same age now as my sister and I were when we came out here.
McCLINTOCK: I cannot believe that the people of California-having voted to recall this governor for policies bankrupting our state, decimating our public works and devastating our economy-will then turn around and elect another candidate to carry on precisely those same policies. The reason we’re all here is because of policies that this administration has followed, [including] Cruz Bustamante.
The Tea Party movement is a populist conservative social movement in the United States that emerged in 2009 through a series of locally and nationally coordinated protests. The protests were partially in response to several Federal laws: the stimulus package; te healthcare bill; and the TARP bailouts. The name "Tea Party" refers to the Boston Tea Party of 1773, the source of the phrase, "No Taxation Without Representation."
